SHOCKING! Singer Amy Winehouse dead at 27

Troubled British singer found dead in her London apartment

Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her home in London. The Back To Black singer was found at the property by emergency services at 3.54pm. Her death is being treated as 'unexplained' by police. Medics were unable to help the singer as they arrived to the scene.

In a statement to the Daily Mail, the Metropolitan police said "police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05 hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene."

News of Winehouse's passing comes just weeks after she gave a disappointing performance in Serbia in June in which she staggered around the stage and could barely sing the words to her own songs. It was marketed as Winehouse comeback tour. The singer's team canned the rest of the European tour due to the unforeseen troubles. Attendees of the concert were disappointed and refunded their money.

As it seemed Amy was getting her life back on track, making progress and getting gigs as she was planning a comeback, but that was botched in Serbia last month. Many observers spoke of media pressure and creating a hostile living environmental for this once talented artist that added to her struggle with substance abuse.

Two ambulance crews arrived at the scene within five minutes and a paramedic on a bicycle also attended, according to a spokeswoman. But not much help was provided as it was too late to so anything to save Amy.

'On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. 'Inquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained.’

Amy’s father Mitch might not be aware of his daughter’s death as Sky News have confirmed that he is currently on a plane to New York to take part in a Jazz festival. When the US got to meet Amy it was year 2007 and the song "Rehab" hit it big out here. Her style was an edgy reinvention of the 1950s female singers.

This makes one tragic death for a starlet that showed so many talent and all of sudden she has developed personal struggle with substance abuse. She surely will be missed by her fans and even those media talking heads who came hard on her as she fumbled through her addiction. This is one young women that has crossed the racial aisle and performed songs that for long has been exclusive for American artists. She came form London, singing those American songs and making it big on the world stage.
