When first now folks singer Mohamed Rushdie started his career over the Egyptian radio, they mocked him. They are the mainstream singers, and the elite voices that had everything. They thought he was doing art a de-service by bringing in new audience to tune in. The lower class folks loved Mohamed Rushdie.

He was the kind who would sing in the street with dancers and people from all walks of life surround him. Now the call him a legend, but then they media was not too kind to him and to his folksy style--Sha'abi.

He got role sin movies and did well for himself. He passed away in 2005. Starting his early life by memorizing the entire Koran in his little village which he has left to come to Cairo and go to music school. Rushdie left a legacy of music that lives on through us...check out two songs of his.
